Game Guide: Stephen Davies 2010
For those who have played, wish to play, become completely stuck, or simply for the curious. Warning: spoilers ahead! Look away if you don't want to spoil the play! There are 8 acts comprising a total of 24 goals, with many mini adventures and heaps of informative dialogue along the way! You are free to roam the lands, nothing is ever fully out of bounds, no matter what level you are at. perhaps Act 1 is the very best time to explore the lands and familiarise yourself with the world of Glastonbury Spore...
Spoiler hint: To reach locations otherwise out of bounds, use some carefully planned jumps, pressing Spacebar to leap skywards.
Act I - The Glastonbury Pilgrimage: Pt. I
You arrive in Glastonbury via coach. You are outside the Town Hall, Magdalene Street. There you will see the coach driver. Talk to him and he will give you some brief information. Then pass the Abbey Gatehouse - the knight will inform you it is closed for the evening, unless you can find the key.
Walking further along, you will meet Rosemary, who can tell you about the pilgrimage and your first essential location, the Holy Thorn Tree on Wearyall (Wirral) Hill. Further along the Market place, other characters will offer information about places to see. Heading down Benedict Street, you will be offered directions to wearyall Hill, and a diversion to the Tor.
Once you have seen Wearyall Hill, you will know exactly where to go next, the Abbey. But alas! You need the key to enter the gatehouse. All I will say is that the characters give you clues, and you may have passed the key without realising it...
Goals:
01. Talk to Rosemary
02. Examine Wearyall Hill Thorn Tree
03. Examine St Michael's Tower, upon the Tor.
Pick ups: One key.
Act II - The Glastonbury Pilgrimage: Pt. II
Unless you have obtained the key, you will need to find another way into the abbey, but it won't be half as fun as opening the gate with the key. Doing this will allow other characters to wander into the abbey, offering snippets of information, side quests and historical information about the ruins.
Once inside the Abbey, it is just a matter of looking around, examining the ruins, gaining a little background on the Dissolution of the Monasteries under the tyranny of King Henry VIII, and finding all the locations in the grounds. The key goal is to examine the tomb of King Arthur there. Once done, you will then be able to talk to other characters, until one of them provides the info you have wanted to hear - the next pilgrim location.
This location is the Chalice Well Gardens. Time to leave the familiarity of the High Street, the Market Place and Magdalene Street - now you need to find your way to Chilkwell Street, past the methodist church, the ancient walls of Lambrook Street, past Abbey House, Chalice Hill and the Rifleman's Arms, until you reach the gardens. There, the Lady of the Well will provide information. She won't tell you everything, but she will certainly set you on the right track!
You might be wandering around lost a while - until you meet a witch. She will lead you to your next pilgrim destination - Brides Mound, just at the foot of Wearyall Hill. Yes, you were here before, and all is familiar again. Perhaps this town is smaller than it appears? There you will see the Tor, St. Benedicts church spire, the tree upon the hill.
But if you listen to the witch, and follow her, she will take you into act III right away.
Goals:
04. Examine king Arthur's Tomb
05. Talk to the Lady of the Well
06. Talk to Hannah, one of the 3 witches of Avalon
Pick ups: None
Act III - The Glastonbury Pilgrimage: Pt. III
Hannah the witch will ask you to follow her to a campfire for some ghostly tales. Following her about will offer some fine views of the Glastonbury Tor, but she tends to wander about all over the place. You will see another younger witch come running, beckoning you to follow her instead. Either way, you reach a burning fire just a little way before the White Spring Cafe in Well House Lane. A third witch comes running, announcing that she is always late. You will also spot the dramatic shape of two old druid oak trees, Gog and Magog, just a little way off. After the stories, the witches suggest you meet them again soon.
The witches tell you about some ghosts of Glastonbury Abbey, a definite hint that you should explore it some more. One witch will direct you to Gog and Magog, where Starfae the faery will congratulate you on finding the two old oaks, there at the foot of Stone Down Lane. She will also guide you to the final destination of your pilgrimage.
Starfae will ask you to go to the Market Place and speak with Cap. This fellow will then direct you to your old friend Rosemary, who informs you that your pilgrimage is complete. This final location is St. Margaret's Chapel and Almshouses in Magdalene Street, and there is a hidden prize somewhere in the grounds. Find it, and Act IV begins.
Goals:
07. Examine the Bonfire
08. Talk to Starfae
09. Collect a prize

Glastonbury Abbey Reworking 2010
Glastonbury Abbey: Lady Chapel (ingame)
Lady Chapel: Part I: Includes a useable walkway, hidden ancient well and lower levels.
Lady Chapel Part II: Includes the lower level altar and stairway to the Galilee and Eastern Piers.
Lady Chapel: An idea of the final model, with arches. The most complicated aspect of the design is sinking the lower chamber into the ground. In Spore, this can only be achieved by lowering the sea level and creating a square depression in the soil. This leaves a massive gap surrounding the Abbey, and poses huge complications in the design.I'll have to get my thinking cap on for this model to really work!
New Tor Model: Includes parabolic archway (after Andeavor) and working interior.
